You’ve invested the time and money in your hunt and mount. Now, the most important thing you can do for your trophy is keep it clean and inspected. Most sportsman do not realize the dangers that bugs represent to mounted animals. These bugs, small moths, eat at the base of the hair on your mount, and the damage often times goes unnoticed until you move or re-adjust your trophy. Don’t wait until it’s too late.
That’s where we come in, based out of Reno, Nevada, Old Wolf Taxidermy will travel to you for cleaning, inspection and (hopefully you won’t need it) repair. Our goal is to have your trophies looking as good as the day you brought them home. We are fully licensed and insured, and take great pride and care in working with your trophies.

Testimonials
“Recently I made one of the best decisions in my hunting career and it didn’t involve squeezing the trigger or letting an arrow fly. It actually involved picking up the phone and calling Mr. Fritz Richards at Old Wolf Taxidermy Cleaning. In the weeks before the call I noticed about a square inch of hair was missing on the face my Alaskan Dall Sheep. After further investigation of the animal and chatting with my taxidermist we concluded that I might have a small moth or beetle problem on my hands. That’s when I made the call to Fritz.
Fritz traveled out to our home in Austin, TX and spent over two days meticulously inspecting and treating nearly 100 of our trophies. It is hard to decipher where the moth/beetle started but it was apparent that it had spread to a few of our trophies. Fritz was able to preserve and treat all of our trophies except for my Arizona Bison. This trophy ended up being a total loss. The crazy thing was that I never saw one single piece of hair on the hard wood floor below the Bison trophy. However when Fritz, while on scaffolding in our main room, touched the Bison clumps of his cape fell from the mount onto the floor at my feet. As more and more handfuls of the Bison’s coat fell my mouth dropped and my heart sank. Never had I witnessed anything like that. As the hair fell I reflected on that Arizona bison hunt and the memories I made with my Dad. By the time we retrieved the Bison from the wall, lowered him down to the floor and outside, nearly all of his chest hair had come completely off. It was a total moth infestation. The bison was beyond saving as is and I would need a new cape if I had hopes of putting him back on the wall.
After my situation and seeing firsthand the damage of what a few moth and/or beetles can turn in to, I strongly encourage all hunters to be proactive and make a call to Fritz at Old Wolf Taxidermy Cleaning before its too late. Do you want to have a trophy that has been damaged beyond repair like my Bison? I only lost one trophy but it could have easily been a total disaster and the moths could have infested ALL of our trophies. We as hunters spend insane amounts of money to travel and hunt the world and have our memories preserved with taxidermy. I suggest spending a little more money after the hunt to insure your trophies along with your memories last a lifetime.”
